The Middle Way
Theophyle says to Rabbit, “I have decided to adopt the Buddha's Middle Way. So, from now on, I will do everything by halves: Comb my hair on one side only, shave only one side of my face, wear pants with only one long leg, put on only one shoe. And all like that. I think it makes a lot of sense, don't you?”
Rabbit replies, “I'm not sure I would have put it quite that way”.
Perched on the side of the cartoon is a hairy woodpecker, who says, “I'm thinking I may have pecked one hole too many in his head”.
To the side of the cartoon is a lute, who says, “What I told Siddhartha was, if the string is too tight, it will break, and if it is too loose, it will not make music. I didn't say anything about wearing only one shoe”.
